Le point positif : le rap prend de plus en plus d’importance puisque Childish Gambino gagne 4 prix dont chanson de l’année tous genres confondus avec l’explosif This Is America, à retenir également de la soirée le speech motivant de Drake (qui remporte la chanson rap de l’année avec God’s Plan) qui explique qu’on s’en fout des Grammys et que c’est l’opinion des gens qui compte… La réaction a été rapide puisqu’il a été coupé en plein milieu de son discours par la pub :
