UPDATE : Mos Def a confirmé sa retraite (après un dernier album) avec un post Instagram (supprimé depuis) et passe le relais à un certain J. Cole, il n’oublie pas de citer ses potes Lupe et Kanye et bien sûr Kendrick Lamar :

Actuellement détenu en Afrique du Sud pour avoir été contrôlé avec des « faux papiers », Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def) a enregistré un témoignage depuis sa cellule :

Il a l’air assez éprouvé et se plaint d’une arrestation injuste avec peut-être un but politique :

« I’ve committed no crime
Why is the state wasting my time?
They must be out of their minds. »

« I am being prevented from leaving unjustly, unlawfully, and without any logical reason »
« I have reason to suspect that there are political motivations behind the way I’m being treated »
« It is not a fictitious document. »

Il termine en annonçant qu’il se retirait du rap après un dernier album cette année :
« I am retiring from the music recording industry… I’m releasing my final album this year, and that’s that. »
