The Fugees is an unusual group in the rapgame, built around a female leader, the trio takes its inspiration from Reggae and Soul. The various samples enriched with live instruments give their music an organic breath.
Like A Tribe Called Quest, the flows of the 3 MCs slip and revolve around intelligent and engaged lyrics, far from the rap clichés.
The unique alchemy of this trio doesn’t take away the spotlight from Lauryn Hill, the intensity of the emotions that she transmits through her verses and sung choruses gives a very particular dimension to this classic album.
